Neuausrichtung auf und neben dem Eis: Die New York Islanders enthüllen mutiges Rebranding

NEW YORK / HAMILTON – Die New York Islanders läuten eine neue Ära ein – mit einem markanten Blick in die eigene Geschichte und einer strategischen Neuausrichtung der gesamten Organisation. Ab der kommenden Saison vollzieht das Franchise unter der Leitung von Jan Niklas Valär, President of Hockey Operations (PoHO) und General Manager, ein umfassendes Rebranding und kehrt offiziell zu einem der ikonischsten Logos der NHL-Geschichte zurück: Dem Fisherman.

Die Rückkehr des Seefahrers

Nach Jahren der Spekulationen und einer Welle von Nostalgie in der Fankultur wird der berühmte Kapitän mit dem Regenhut wieder das Hauptlogo der Islanders. Das in den 90er-Jahren eingeführte Design wurde für die Moderne überarbeitet: Die klassischen Elemente – der sturmerprobte Fischer, der Eishockeyschläger und die dynamischen Wellen – wurden in eine scharfe, zeitgemäße Formsprache übersetzt.

„Dieses Logo verkörpert den rauen, unerschütterlichen Geist von Long Island. Es steht für harte Arbeit, Küstenmentalität und die Bereitschaft, jedem Sturm zu trotzen“, erklärte Jan Niklas Valär bei der offiziellen Enthüllung in der UBS Arena. „Wir wollen eine Identität schaffen, die Stolz ausstrahlt und Tradition mit einem mutigen Schritt nach vorne verbindet.“

Die Farbpalette bleibt den historischen Wurzeln treu, wird jedoch durch ein tiefes Atlantikblau und Akzente in leuchtendem Neon-Orange aufgefrischt.

 

Umzug nach Ontario: Das Farmteam wird zu den Hamilton Hammers

Im Zuge der umfassenden Neugestaltung verlegt die Organisation zudem ihr AHL-Farmteam mit sofortiger Wirkung nach Ontario. In der kanadischen Arbeiterstadt Hamilton schlägt das Team als Hamilton Hammers ein neues Kapitel auf.

Das Logo der Hammers besticht durch eine kraftvolle Symbolik: Zwei massive Vorschlaghämmer – eine direkte Anspielung auf Hamiltons Wurzeln als „Steel City“.

Unter der Führung von Valär soll das Farmteam nicht nur geografisch neu verankert werden, sondern auch die physische und kompromisslose Spielphilosophie widerspiegeln, die künftig das gesamte Franchise prägen soll.

Mit der Rückkehr des Fischers und der Gründung der Hamilton Hammers setzt Jan Niklas Valär ein deutliches Zeichen: Die New York Islanders verbinden nostalgischen Kult mit einer kompromisslosen, modernen Markenidentität.
